Warning: Poor Quality E-Cigarettes May Explode! 16th May 2016 – Posted in: Uncategorised – Tags: , , ,

At Viper we always do quality control checks on our e-cigarette products to make sure they are suitable for our customers. That not only means sourcing from reliable companies and choosing the products we sell carefully, but also making sure we provide the right kind of customer support and advice in relation to all things vaping. If you buy your e-cigarette from a reputable supplier, then there really should be few problems.

That doesn’t mean you can’t also use a bit of good old fashioned common sense when it comes to your e-cigarette. After all, these are electrical devices. Just as you wouldn’t leave a real lighted cigarette lying around, there are things you can do to keep yourself extra safe when it comes to e-cigs.

There have been a number of news stories recently where e-cigs have apparently exploded or caused fires. There was one in California that sparked a fire in a care home and the 18-year-old victim had to be taken to hospital, though his injuries were not life threatening. Closer to home, crews were called out to a house fire in Derbyshire after the vaper concerned used the wrong charger on his e-cigarette. The fire had been put out before the firemen arrived and no one was injured, but it highlights the potential problems that come from using any electrical device.

Just how dangerous it can be to buy a cheap e-cig from a disreputable supplier became obvious when a Scottish pensioner’s new vaping tool exploded. While it didn’t cause him any harm physically, it was a big shock. The e-cigarette was bought overseas while the pensioner was on holiday – the first time he plugged it in to charge, the device exploded after about five minutes.

Most quality vaping products have inbuilt safety mechanisms that stop them from over-charging. It’s something we take for granted nowadays – we charge practically everything including our laptops and mobile phones and can become a little complacent when we plug all these devices in. A little common sense can help overcome any potential problems.

Here’s our guide for keeping safe with your e-cigarette charger:

First of all, you shouldn’t leave your e-cigarette charging overnight or leave it unattended for long periods. This piece of advice applies to most of the devices we charge but it’s often something we all do habitually.

You should always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

You should never use a different charging device that was not supplied by the e-cigarette manufacturer, particularly if you are going to leave it unattended. Vapers often swap and share chargers, believing they are all the same. While most of the time you won’t encounter a problem, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Always buy your e-cigarettes from a reputable supplier who delivers a high quality product.

While there have been a number of accidents in recent times, vaping is considered pretty safe and you would be fairly unlucky if your device caused a fire or even exploded. With over 2.2 million of us using e-cigarettes in the UK alone, there are bound to be times when accidents happen. Make sure that you buy a good quality product – not only does it provide a better vaping experience but it should also be entirely safe.
